BALMERINO 2026

After a weather call off on Sat for the Tayport Cup, we had better fortunes today with the Kirkton of Balmerino Championship.

The winds were light and skys were clear at the start of the event.

2 pm saw 4 swimmers set off from Kirkton of Balmerino for an 8 mile swim back to Broughty Ferry Harbour.

During the course of the swim the participants experienced torrential rain, sunshine and even the famous tay haar for a brief spell. Just a typical scottish summers day ,many might say.

All 4 swimmers completed the course in under 3 hours and we would like to say a big thank you to our two BLDSA swimmers (Andrew Wells and David Lowe) who travelled from south of the border to swim with us today. We hope you enjoyed your time with us on this swim.

Thanks to all the boat crews and officials who made the event happen. You know who you are.........
