COMMITTEE OFFICIALS

Our committee members are all volunteers who are elected at the AGM. The length of terms of office are as per the definition in the club constitution.

The committee meets once a month to discuss all aspects of running our association. All adult and volunteer members are eligible to stand for election to the committee.

We are always looking for people to join our committee or assist with the many varying tasks associated with running our association. Please help if you can no job is too small.

In running a swimming association of this size we might not get everything right all of the time. If you have any complaints or suggestions in relation to running of our association please speak to any of the below committee members.

PRESIDENT
(STEWART HALLIDAY)

Stewart Halliday was elected as Club President at the 2023 AGM. He will hold the post for a max of 3 years, as per the clubs constitution, when he may stand for re-election.

Stewart is a long standing open water swimmer with the club and also the membership secretary.

Greig brings a youthful presence to the committee and is looking forward to the challenges that the role will bring.

SECRETARY

Jen Lornie took the job of Interim Secretary in Aug 23, and was formally elected to the post at the 2023 AGM.

The club secretary deals with all the routine correspondence that comes into the club. They deals with SASA, Midland district and external agencies with whom we work.

MINUTE SECRETARY

Clare was elected to the post of minute secretary at the 2023 AGM and she will be responsible for taking the minutes of our monthly meetings.

TREASURER / Vice president / COMMS
& IT CONVENER
(JOHN WALKER)

The treasurers role is to look after the clubs finances and keep the committee informed of the clubs financial health.

Requests for expenditure should be addressed to the treasurer in the first instance, who will raise them at committee meeting for approval.

As the Comms / IT Convener, John also looks after the Website / Facebook and EMail Systems for the club and facilitates ZOOM meetings when required.

MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY
(STPHEN MOFFATT)

Stephen has been the membership secretary for a couple of months now (Jan 2024).

He is responsible for the registration of all club swimmers and volunteers with SASA, so any queries about membership status should be addressed to him in the first instance.

TRAINING CONVENER
(PAUL SMITH)

Paul (Smudger) Smith took the job of Interim Training Convener in Aug 23, and was formally elected to the post at the 2023 AGM.

The training convener is responsible for co-ordinating all the clubs training requirements and keeping the record of trained personnel up to date.

Any training needs should be identified to the training convener, so that they can be logged, training organised and records updated on completion.

LIFE PRESIDENT
(JOYCE McINTOSH)

Joyce has been involved with the club for over 43 years and has served as both secretary, president and swim convener in her time. She is a font of great knowledge about the club.

SHED CONVENER
(DOUGAL McINTOSH)

Dougal has taken on the role of shed convener and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the boats, trailers, engines and equipment within the shed.

There is a small team of people, who assist Dougal in this task

BUILDING CONVENER
(VACANT)

This role is responsible for the maintenance and security of the building, as well as being the point of contact for access to the facility for utility services etc.

WELBEING & PROTECTION OFFICER
(MARGARET MOODIE)

Margaret is the clubs Wellbeing and Protection Officer, and the point of contact for all PVG related matters within the club. She is a former Secretary of the club and has been a member of the club for 25 years.

Any wellbeing or Child Protection issues should be flagged to Margaret in the first instance.

KIT CONVENER
(FIONA BROWN)

Fiona was elected as the clubs Kit Convener at the 2023 AGM and will look after the inventory of club kit, advising when replacements are required and indeed advising on new kit that we may wish to sell.

DOOK / FUNDRAINING TEAM LEAD

These are both important roles within the club, as the Dook is our most successful fundraiser, but takes a lot of planning and co-ordination, and without constant fundraising efforts, the club would struggle to remain solvent.

In addition there are a number of other volunteer teams that are set up.
